As communities faced massive destruction, our team at Bionew USA stepped up to contribute to recovery efforts by managing the cleanup of debris across affected areas.

Scope of Work

The sheer magnitude of the disaster created an unprecedented amount of debris, requiring swift, organized action. Bionew USA is one of the resources to help remove hundreds of truckloads of debris from the hardest-hit areas, including homes, businesses, and public spaces. Our efforts focused on safely clearing damaged materials, including metals, electronics, and general waste, all while adhering to environmental best practices.

Challenges

The situation in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina posed significant challenges:

  • Scale of Debris: With over 118 million cubic yards of debris, the logistics of removal required large-scale coordination.
  • Hazardous Materials: We encountered electronics, batteries, and materials that required specialized handling and recycling to prevent environmental contamination. Not to mention, the disease that is Contaminating the debris, and while we took extra cautions and care for these cleanups, we also make sure our employees are safe from these disease spreading. 
  • Access and Transportation: Non-profit organizations, such as eagle, helped us bringing the truckload for cleanup.
